Ideal for burglar alarms. Contact normally open, but closed when near magnet.

Contact operation:
Contacts are closed cicuit when the magnet is alongside the switch. For hobbyist application the "normal" state is when the magnet is away from the switch. The switch is then triggered by the magnet and switch being brought together.
